The University of Alabama's College of Human Environmental Sciences offers the
following nutrition master's degree through distance education:
- Master of Science in Human Nutrition
The masters of science in human nutrition is a 30 semester-hour program
designed to prepare registered dietitians to practice dietetics at an
advanced level and/or to pursue doctoral study. The program develops
research skills, stimulates independent thought, and provides up-to-date
knowledge in food and nutrition. The masters degree is available through
distance education. Being a registered dietitian is not a requirement for

The Master of Science in Nutrition curriculum focuses on the role of human

The University of Guelph in Canada offers the Certificate in Food Science that
is designed for the professional development of food industry personnel who have
little or no formal food science education. The courses are available via
distance, in a flexible format, accessible to those employed full time.

Food Science; Introduction to Food Chemistry; Introduction to Food Microbiology;
Introduction to Food Analysis; Introduction to Food Processing. The intended
audience includes government-employed food inspectors, quality assurance

The program is designed to meet the needs of individuals with degrees in such
